The wine is on the territory of Hungary urbeheimatete a plant, due to archaeological findings which indicate wine, the peoples living in this deal since more than 2000 years ago with the cultivation of wine.

The law declared wine areas comprise about 92,000 ha, of which 30-35% on mountainous areas and about 60% in the lowlands (sandy areas). The climate is continental in the north of the country, in southern Hungary has a temperate Mediterranean climate characteristic.

There are 22 wine regions in Hungary. 65% white wines are grown, but some regions as Siklos Villány, Eger, Sopron Szekszárd or specialize in wine production.
